    The Industrial Design Engineer is responsible for the development of new products and also supports design upgrades and updates to existing products and equipment.

    The successful candidate will team with Customers, Suppliers, Electrical Engineers, Manufacturing and the Service Department to develop cost effective solutions to design and manufacturing problems so that solutions can be safely and effectively executed.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities


    • Support the design of new products and product updates/upgrades to existing equipment.
    • Work together with various team members to ensure design criteria meets company, industry and customer needs.
    • Effectively create, modify, and maintain equipment design ideas using 3D CAD software. Preferably solidworks, or other transferable experience.
    • Create physical prototypes of designs
    • Examine materials and manufacturing requirements to determine production costs
    • Work with other specialists, such as mechanical engineers, manufacturing engineers, and manufacturing associates, to evaluate whether design concepts will fill needs at a reasonable cost.
    • Evaluate product safety, appearance, and function to determine if a design is practical.
    • Ensures industry accepted drawing standards are maintained.
    • Supports engineering documentation and drawing control in accordance with company engineering standards.
    • Ensures designs meet NFPA and all country and customer required agency certification standards.
    • Identifies opportunities for design or process improvements and participates in the planning and execution of such opportunities.
    • Implements and suggests creative solutions to reduce the cost of materials, components and labor
    • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
    • Assist with equipment hazard risk assessments and FMEA processes.
    • Contributes as may be requested in all aspects of the business to ensure strategic and tactical business goals and objectives are met.
    Education and Experience


    • Industrial equipment design and fabrication
    • High temperature furnace design experience (preferred but not required)
    • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or alternative Mechanical Design Engineering field required.
    • 5-10 Years' work experience in machine design engineering and machine manufacturing.

    • Solid Works & AutoCad experience required.
    • Systems engineering design methodology experience preferred
    • Mechanical and fluid simulation experience a plus

    Travel Required
    Some travel may be required for training, industry related activities or customer support activities.
