    The Physical Therapist provides services that help restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients suffering from injuries or disease.

    The PT also examines patient's medical history, evaluates their physical abilities, determines their potential to respond to therapy, and develops treatment plans.

    This position must integrate company values into daily practice.

    Setting:
    Inpatient Rehab Hospital. Interdisciplinary team.


    Essential Functions:
    Provides direct patient care, evaluates functional needs and outcomes, and establishes a plan of care. Conducts therapy practice within defined standards of care.
    Evaluate the effectiveness of treatment and modify as necessary.

    Assesses educational and cultural needs of the patient, family, caregiver, or significant other and communicates accordingly to achieve maximum care benefit.

    Documents evaluations, treatment goals, and plans in accordance with Hospital requirements and established guidelines. Regularly updates documentation and maintains prescriptions and signatures.
    Prepares discharge plans.
    Coordinates, delegates, and supervises responsibilities assigned to support staff.
    Coordinates with the interdisciplinary team on patient needs, treatment modifications, and progress.

    Minimum Job Requirements


    Minimum Education & Experience:
    Two years direct patient physical therapy care and treatment experience preferred.
    Experience in rehabilitation hospital setting preferred.


    Required Licenses, Certifications, and/or Documentation:
    Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist required.
    Basic Life Support/CPR Certification required.


    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    Demonstrates appropriate application of age-specific standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines in caring for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

    Knowledge of accreditation standards to ensure adherence to all standards set forth by state and accrediting agencies of TJC and CMS.

    Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures and utilizing proper policies, procedures, and guidelines for patient care.
    Demonstrates understanding of treatment costs and financial support related to quality and efficiency.

    Physical Requirements Over the Course of a Shift:
    A significant amount of standing, walking, bending, squatting, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling, often for prolonged periods of time.
    Both gross and precise motor functions.
    Lifting/exerting of up to 50 lbs.
    Possible exposure to bodily fluids.
    Visual acuity required for patient assessment and documentation of care.
    Acute hearing required for accurate patient assessment.
    Sufficient manual dexterity to operate equipment and computer keyboard.
