    This position is approved for 72 hours every two weeks (.9 FTE) and is benefits-eligible, SEIU union position.

    Responsibilities Job Description

    The Patient Services Coordinator performs a variety of clerical functions to support the provider and patient care staff.

    The Patient Services Coordinator is responsible to notify the provider of any schedule changes, schedule patient appointments, ensure patient medical records and reports are available, and prepares applicable medical record forms.

    Relays messages to and from physicians, nurses, CMA's and other resources necessary for patient care.


    Job Expectations:
    Coordinates activities of nursing station to support provider and patient care staff.

    Orders and maintains adequate stock of office supplies.

    Verifies provider schedules and notifies provider of add-ons, cancellations, no shows, etc.

    Performs telephone message taking and directs communication in a timely fashion.

    Requests/obtains patient reports as necessary.

    Effectively uses communication systems for both routine and emergency transactions.

    Calls in prescriptions-new/refills to appropriate pharmacy.

    Manages medical record flow.

    Requests/obtains medical records for patient visits, as needed.

    Locates and searches for medical records in nursing station.

    Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.

    Qualifications

    Required

    Education

    High School diploma/G.E.D.

    Experience

    One year prior experience

    Preferred

    Experience

    3-5 years

    Knowledge of third party payers, billing procedures and insurance.

    Ability to work independently and exercise independent judgment.

    Excellent customer service, public relations and communication skills

    Ability to prioritize and work with a fluctuation in workload while working independently
