    As a Medical Surgical Float Pool RN you will float to the Medical/Tele, Transplant, Neuro, Surgical, Oncology and Emergency Observation units.

    MHealth Fairview Health Services is looking for a Med-surg Float Pool department at the University of Minnesota Medical Center


    This is a:
    * .75 FTE (60 Hours worked every two weeks)

    • Night shift position with 12 hour shifts and every third weekend.
    • This position is benefit eligible.
    The starting base rate of pay for the position is $39.70. Candidates with experience or higher degree may be brought in at a higher rate of pay.

    * $2.00 extra per hour weekend shift differential
    * $2.00 extra per hour float pool differential
    * $4.00 extra per hour night shift differential

    The Nurse Residency Program is designed to bridge the gap between academia and real-world clinical practice as new grad/novice nurses make transition from nursing school to hospital nursing practice.

    This program offers an organized, structured, and practice-based learning environment that helps newly graduated nurses' transition smoothly into the dynamic and fast-paced world of healthcare.

    This program is a testament to our commitment to fostering the growth and development of our nursing team by providing an environment where new nurses can learn and supplementing the work that our nurse preceptors do with new orientees.


    What to Expect:

    • Structured Learning: Nurse residents will engage in a structured curriculum as part of program (8 hours of learning every 2 months for 12 months) that covers essential skills like time management, interprofessional teaming, communication, wellbeing, social determinants of health, critical thinking, and more This program aims to deliver a confident, competent graduating cohort.
    • Mentorship: Each resident will encounter several mentorship opportunities throughout the program to claim the guidance, support, and valuable insights needed to thrive.
    • Networking: Residents can connect with their peers, build relationships, and collaborate on practice-based learning opportunities.

    On Experience:
    The program includes hands-on clinical experiences to help nurses apply their knowledge in real healthcare scenarios; we are piloting virtual reality as a formative learning experience

    Responsibilities/Job Description


    • RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act.
    • Establish and implement nursing care plans for assigned patient populations through assessment, development, activation, evaluation, and discharge.
    • Conducts ongoing assessments as determined by patient's condition and/or the hospital policies, procedures or protocols and reprioritizes care accordingly.
    • Organize, assigns, and supervise duties and responsibilities of other staff members as a team leader.
    • Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served.
    • Collaborate with patient, family, and health care team members
    Qualifications

    • MN RN License
    • BLS for Health Care Providers

    Preferred Qualifications


    • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
    • Recent within one-year med/surg RN experience
    • Certification in a related specialty is highly desired
