summary:
· Assists with HSMC's Thrift Store daily operations.
· Monitors customers regularly to help the store in loss prevention.
· Fills in as needed in the electronics department, warehouse, donation truck, and register.
· Provides backup for other Thrift Store personnel as needed.
Responsibilities:
· Follows procedures for accepting and sorting donations.
· Assists with opening and closing the store.
· Assists with the processing of donated items.
· Assists in the display of merchandise inside the store.
· Welcomes customers, helps them with the selection of merchandise, and provides excellent customer service.
· Answers the telephone in a pleasant and caring way.
· Reacts to all concerns of customers quickly with a sense of importance.
· Maintains cleanliness of store.
· Handles cash, change and operate the cash register.
· Ensures stock levels on the sales floor are maintained continually.
· Organizes merchandise pricing, signage and coding.
· Performs other duties as required.
· Receives donations from public.
· Sorts clothing, shoes and household items.
· Organizes and maintains a neat, clean warehouse.
· Assists Thrift Store Manager and staff in identifying items to take into Thrift Store for sale.
· Provides basic inventory information.
· Provides backup to all Thrift Store personnel.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Reliable and trustworthy; sound decision-making skills.
· Ability to serve clients in a professional, welcoming, and efficient manner.
· Knowledge of basic computer, organizational and clerical skills.
· Team player, able to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task.
· Ability to work courteously and cooperatively with volunteers, staff, and the public.
· Basic money handling necessary.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
· Occasionally may be required to lift items over 50+ pounds to various heights for distances up to 25 feet.
· Able to pivot and climb ladders, talk, walk, see, hear stand, sit, use hands and/or fingers to type and feel, and will reach with hands and arms.
32 Hours per week. Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays are required
