    Description
    DutiesThis position is responsible for the total operation of the pharmacy department which includes both inpatient and outpatient departments.
    Provide pharmaceutical services to include taking patient medication histories, participate in medical and pharmacy patient rounds and pharmacy chart auditsRequirements Conditions of Employment
    Selectee may be subject to a probationary/trial period
    ESEP appointees typically serve a two year trial period
    Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959
    This is a designated position covered by Public Law , requiring contact or control over Indian children.

    Measles and Rubella immunization required for selectees born after 1957 and seasonal influenza immunization is required for all staff working in Indian Health Service health care facilities.

    COVID-19 vaccination is required for all selectees prior to entrance on duty.
    The selected individual is required to obtain and maintain medical staff clinical privileges, including any licensure requirements. Weekends and/or call-back maybe required

    A doctoral degree in Pharmacy that is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education(external link) (ACPE) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.Applicants must be licensed to practice pharmacy in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

    Medical Requirements

    In addition to the licensure and educational requirements described above, a minimum of one year of professional pharmacy experience that is equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.

    Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks:


    Exercises full supervisory responsibilities for planning, organizing, reviewing, evaluating, and implementing all duties performed by the Outpatient and or Inpatient Pharmacy Department; provides administrative and technical supervision and identifies challenges, prioritizes efforts, develops expectations for programs.


    Pharmacy work requires knowledge of the use, clinical effects, and composition of medications, including their chemical, biological, and physical properties.

    Qualifying professional pharmacy experience may involve, but is not limited to:


    Performing administrative, consultative, or staff advisory work for a medical facility's pharmacy program;Planning, monitoring and evaluating medication programs or regimens;Researching medical literature and/or clinical medication information to provide accurate responses to inquiries; Unofficial transcripts will be accepted in the application package.

    Additional informationPer IHS policy (SGM IHS selectees to positions located in Federally operated hospitals, health centers, and clinics must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 before entry on duty or have IHS approve a medical or religious exemption.
