    Job Opportunity

    Join our team at UPMC Altoona as a casual PVL Technologist with the flexibility to work different shifts, including weekends, holidays, and on call when needed.

    Purpose:
    Conduct various noninvasive Peripheral Vascular studies such as arterial and venous duplex imaging, arterial testing, and other vascular tests. The objective is to complete these tasks within 6 months to 1 year from your start date. You will work with adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients during the testing process.

    Main Responsibilities:

    • Demonstrate a solid understanding of Doppler and Ultrasound physics in vascular examinations.
    • Offer information to patients and their families during the testing procedures.
    • Input data accurately into the system and ensure data integrity is maintained. You will also assist in training new technologists and students as well as participate in ongoing education.
    • Support the team to ensure competence in all aspects of vascular diagnostic services.
    • Gather comprehensive patient histories for vascular cases.
    • Exhibit the ability to troubleshoot equipment and computer issues and perform minor repairs.
    • Provide assistance to colleagues and hospital staff as necessary, always prioritizing patient care and interdepartmental service.
    • Ensure the safety of vascular patients within the department.
    • Analyze and calculate waveforms for vascular tests accurately.
    • Complete all studies available in the Peripheral Vascular lab within one year of employment.
    Successful candidates must have completed formal training in an accredited Vascular Technology or Ultrasound program, or hold a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or equivalent credential.

    Licenses and Certifications:
    Preferred qualifications include being registered or registry eligible with the physics portion of the registry completed within 12 months of graduation. CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. Additional clearances as mandated by the business unit are necessary, including Act 33, 34, 73.

    • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
    • Act 33 with renewal
    • Act 34 with renewal
    • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
