    $ $24.00 per hour (based on years of experience)


    Summary:


    The Certified Ophthalmic Assistant provides assistance to the physician with patient care in accordance with established methods and techniques while conforming to recognized standards.


    Principal Responsibilities:

    • Will participate and maintain a culture within The Corvallis Clinic consistent with the content outlined in the Service and Behavioral Standards Caregiver document. To this end, employee will be expected to read, have familiarity, and embrace the principles contained within.
    • Compiles all chart and background information at the beginning of the day for the physician.
    • Performs ocular screening examinations, auto refraction, K. Readings, visual acuity testing, and other required tests using various standardized means in order to prepare the physician with the information needed for the care of Ophthalmic patients. Maintain and repair all equipment in a timely manner.
    • Reads glasses on lensometer.
    • Assists in surgical procedures with the ability to prepare the patients for the physician's examinations.
    • Stocks and maintain inventory control of medicines and supplies. Clean and stock shared work areas and exam rooms.

    Education, Licensure, and Experience:

    • Current certification from the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant, required.
    • Minimum of one (1) year previous successful work experience as a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant in a clinic setting.
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to complete BLS certification within 90 days of hire required.

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Knowledge of basic clinical skills to provide patient care.
    • Ability to prioritize.
    • Ability to work compatibly with physicians, patients and other staff.
    • Must also be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and cope with the hazards of a busy, fast-paced work environment.
