We are seeking a skilled PHP/WordPress developer with a passion for accessibility partner with for a project focused on enhancing the accessibility features of an existing website.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with our team to implement accessibility design features and ensure compliance with relevant standards and guidelines.
Responsibilities:
Conduct a thorough accessibility audit of the existing website to identify areas for improvement. Work closely with the design and development teams to develop a project plan for implementing accessibility enhancements. Modify existing PHP code and WordPress themes/plugins to integrate accessibility features and functionality. Optimize website elements such as navigation, forms, images, and multimedia content for improved accessibility. Implement semantic HTML markup and ARIA roles and attributes to enhance accessibility. Perform usability testing with assistive technologies and screen readers to identify and address accessibility issues. Provide regular updates on project progress and collaborate with team members to resolve any technical challenges. Ensure compliance with relevant accessibility standards, including WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) and Section 508.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a PHP developer with expertise in WordPress development. Solid understanding of web accessibility standards and guidelines, including WCAG 2.0/2.1 and Section 508. Experience conducting accessibility audits and implementing accessibility features in web applications. Familiarity with assistive technologies and accessibility testing tools. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality, accessible solutions. Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a project team environment. Ability to manage time efficiently and meet project deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
Qualifications:
Familiarity with front-end technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and responsive web design. Knowledge of PHP frameworks such as Laravel or Symfony. Experience with version control systems such as Git. Join our team and contribute to making the web more accessible for all users
