Job summary
The Phlebotomy Technician is responsible for accurately performing and processing Point of Care Testing (POC), venous and capillary blood collection from adults, infants ,and children all related functions.Collects blood performs POC as assigned Cleans re-stocks POC supplies prepares phlebotomy carts/trays Assists coworkers with draws and POC testing Draws venous or capillary blood from newborn through geriatric aged patients using proper aseptic collection techniques Draws delivers where applicable all blood work stat timed routine within established departmental policy time frames Performs processes all POC tests on patients ranging from newborn to geriatrics Completes clerical functions associated with POC testing documents Reports incidents/issues regarding patients employees timely to group leader or supervisor Reports supply needs equipment defects in timely fashion Logs refrigerator temperatures daily reports if falls out range to group leader or supervisor Travels performs phlebotomy duties POC testing needed at Health fair sand PSA testing sites delivers specimens laboratory Identifies needs patient population served modifies delivers care that specific those needs i.e age culture language hearing visually impaired etc Adheres standards identified clinics Organizational Competencies.
