    The Director of Technology architecture and solutions reports to the Chief Information Officer for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (MGB Site Director) and is the senior leader for network, hardware and application integration solutions at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

    The Director leads the strategy, design, implementation and support of the infrastructure stack that supports Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. This role will work with the senior leaders of MGB technology services to ensure MGB solutions meet Dana-Farber needs.

    With Dana-Farber leaders, this role will create strategic plans for how core infrastructure services will support the strategic clinical, operational and research goals of the organization.

    This role will collaborate with other digital leaders at Dana-Farber to address the technology integrations between Dana-Farber and Boston Children's Hospital, Dana-Farber and Mass General Brigham, and Dana-Farber with all regional campus partner institutions.


    The Director will oversee three technology teams:
    Desktop Services, Application Data Integration and Database & Client Support Services.

    These teams collaborate with all of the application teams within Dana-Farber Information Services/MGB Digital and the clinical and operational leadership at Dana-Farber to make sure that these technologies and teams meet the organizational needs.

    The organization uses a combination of Microsoft OS and iOS endpoints, hybrid on-prem & cloud solutions, and both Mulesoft and Healthshare HL7 integration engines.

    A solid understanding of the integration models used in healthcare data exchange is critical to the success of the role.

    This is a new role within the Information Services/Digital leadership team at Dana-Farber.

    This leader needs to excel in the following areas:


    • Leads the development of a technology strategy and roadmap, and ensures its integration with the broader IS/Digital and organization strategic plans
    • Experience with cloud migration strategies in a hybrid environment
    • Works with business operations teams and IS/Digital colleagues to ensure coordination of changes without impacting business processes
    • Builds and maintains relationships with other IS/Digital leaders to develop a clear understanding of business needs; ensures cost-effective delivery of technology services to meet those needs, and is able to respond with agility to changing business priorities
    • Maintains fluency with new technologies and service management practices, and provides direction on what emerging solutions and methods should be introduced and implemented
    • Provides oversight for vendor and partner relationship management for vendors within the scope of the role
    • Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to communicate a vision that inspires and motivates staff and aligns to the technology and business strategy
    • Excellent service management planning and execution skills
    • Strong technology acumen, including cross-domain knowledge and preferably earlier career experience in an individual contributor role in IT operations.
    • Success in leveraging both traditional practices, such as IT service management, as well as emerging methods, such as DevOps, that are optimized for agility
    Ten or more years of relevant experience in managing information systems in healthcare organizations. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business Management, Healthcare Informatics or equivalent subjects. Leads the development of a technology strategy and roadmap, and ensures its integration with the broader IS/Digital and organization strategic plans
    Experience with cloud migration strategies in a hybrid environment

    Deep understanding of information technology concepts, strategies, approaches. Knowledge of relevant health care software for clinical, financial, administrative, and research use.
    Demonstrated skill and experience in large project management, negotiating/contracting, strategic planning, analytic thinking, and human resources management.
    Executive presence including excellent oral and written communication skills.
    Experience managing large operating and capital budgets.
    Hybrid role requires weekly travel to the Longwood Medical Area / MGB Boston sites
    Planned meetings at Assembly Row, Somerville
