- Collaborate with client families to design tailored services.
- Present merchandising and service options to client families.
- Gather necessary information for documents like obituaries, death certificates, and burial permits.
- Coordinate service arrangements with clergy, other participants, and vendors.
- Utilize systems to record merchandise selections, enter contracts, and complete forms.
- Plan, schedule, and conduct visitations and services.
- Supervise staff participating in services, ensuring each member understands their role and represents the location professionally.
- Prepare the deceased, including dressing and casketing.
- Place caskets or remains in the visitation area, setting up according to client wishes.
- Direct and usher families and attendees to and from the service location.
- Supervise and assist with transportation, ensuring timely departures and arrivals.
- Arrange and coordinate shipment of remains to and from other cities.
- Instruct and oversee Apprentice Funeral Directors on services and paperwork.
- Perform removals and transfers individuals into Park Lawn's care as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- A four-year degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- At least two years of experience as a licensed Funeral Director.
- A valid state Funeral Director License and good standing.
- A valid state-issued driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Fluency in English; bilingualism is a plus.
- High computer proficiency and Microsoft Office Suite skills.
- Ability to present information effectively to client families, colleagues, and leadership.
- Demonstrated willingness to participate in community-based organizations.
- Empathy and tact when dealing with grieving client families.
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude and working environment.
- Active listening skills and attention to detail.
- Tactful behavior when handling complaints or dissatisfaction.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Indoor office work with occasional outdoor duties.
- Exposure to natural elements like inclement weather, extreme temperatures, and uneven ground.
- Use of equipment like computers, fax machines, copiers, and vehicles.
- Sufficient strength, manual dexterity, and willingness to work safely.
- Frequent lifting up to 75 pounds, occasional lifting up to 100 pounds.
- Routine exposure to chemicals and/or blood-borne pathogens.
- A good driving record and insurability under company vehicle insurance.
- Overtime may be necessary or required.
- This position may require up to 10% out-of-area travel and overnight stays.
- Travel is primarily local during business hours.
