    Under the general supervision of the Lead Custodian, shall ensure a clean and sanitary environment for the educational program at Westwood Unified School District.

    1. Participate in the general cleaning of the school buildings (classrooms, offices, multi-purpose room, gymnasium etc.)

    as directed, to include:

    • Sweeping
    • Vacuuming
    • Mopping
    • Dusting
    • Cleaning windows
    • Keeping walks and steps clear of snow and ice
    • Scrubbing and disinfecting restrooms and drinking fountains 2. May operate mechanical floor cleaners and polishers. 3. Move furniture or equipment within the building(s) as required for various activities, as directed. 4. Assist in maintaining a system of building and ground security to ensure that the building is secure at the end of shift e.g. make sure windows are closed, doors are locked, and alarm is set. 5. Immediately report any damage to school property to Superintendent/Principal or designee. 6. Participate in necessary general repairs as needed. 7. Lift cartons, boxes, and buckets weighing up to forty pounds without assistance. 8. Perform emergency repair or cleaning services as directed. 9. May assist in snow removal, yard-keeping chores such as grass cutting, tree trimming etc. to maintain the school grounds in a safe and attractive condition. 10. Participate in professional development provided by the District that are relevant to and/or required by the Superintendent/Principal or designee. 11. Working knowledge of Family Educational Rights and Privacy Acts (FERPA). 12. Working knowledge of mandated reporter regulations and child abuse laws. 13. Working knowledge of school guidelines and rules in the Westwood Staff Handbook. 14. Understand and apply the District's rules, regulations, procedures and policies. 15. Other related duties as assigned by the Superintendent/Principal which do not extend beyond the scope of duties listed above, subject to association (CSEA) review.
