Job Summary:

As a Diamond Turning CNC Operator, you will produce ultra‑precision optical surfaces across a wide range of materials using state‑of‑the‑art diamond turning and grinding machining centers. Your work directly supports the creation of high‑performance optical components used in advanced technologies.

You will:

• Set up and operate ultra‑precision diamond turning and grinding CNC machining centers.
• Interpret, create, and modify CNC programs to achieve required geometries and surface finishes.
• Perform optical testing using interferometers, surface profilometers, and other metrology tools.
• Use traditional inspection equipment including toolmaker's microscopes, micrometers, height gages, and calipers.
• Read and interpret optical drawings and mechanical blueprints with a high degree of accuracy.
• Maintain accurate documentation related to machining processes, inspection results, and production workflows.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to troubleshoot issues and optimize machining performance.
• Utilize computer systems for programming, data entry, and equipment operation.

You have:

• Strong ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex technical documents and communicate findings clearly.
• Solid understanding of mathematical concepts relevant to precision machining.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Hands‑on experience as a toolmaker, machinist, or CNC operator, including CNC programming and machine setup.
• Familiarity with precision optics, ultra‑precision machining, or metrology is a plus.
• A detail‑oriented mindset and commitment to producing high‑quality, repeatable results.

Environment & Physical Demands:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand: use hands to fingers, handle or feel: and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch: and talk and hear.

• The job may involve prolong periods of sitting/standing.

• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. May involve prolonged periods of magnified inspection (eye strain)

• Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp.

• The employee is frequently required to use the computer.

• May involve the use of oils and solvents.

• Subject to some soilage and irritation from cleaning solutions. (Lab Coats provided)

• Generally works in a clean environment and works to maintain the environment as such.

• Safety Glasses are required and May require area specific safety training

• This position works in a manufacturing environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

• The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne paper particles.May work at different workstations as production needs require, or shifts from one station to another, during the production process.
