    Position: Project Engineer (or Project Coordinator/Assistant PM) - Construction

    SGS Contracting Services, Inc., based in High Springs, FL, is a mid-size construction firm, focused exclusively on municipal water resource facilities and related utility systems. Our excellent reputation is well-known throughout the industry. Due to continued growth, we're seeking a Project Engineer to help continue our tremendous success.

    Position Summary:

    The Project Engineer (aka Project Coordinator and/or Assistant PM) works alongside the Project Managers in a supplemental role. The position will include duties typical of normal project management activities common to the construction industry. This position also includes attending prebid and preconstruction meetings, along with occasional estimating assistance. This position is primarily administrative in nature.

    Essential Duties & Functions:

    • This position requires strong ethics and absolute confidentiality.
    • Directly report to and regularly collaborate with company Project Managers, assisting them with their day-to-day tasks as needed.
    • Perform submittal/shop drawing review and submissions, along with tracking reviews and processing. This position will be the main point of contact for all submittal/shop drawing efforts for all company projects, unless directed otherwise.
    • Develop and process RFI's, Change Orders, & other related project documentation with input and assistance from Project Managers.
    • Communicate with job site Superintendents regarding schedules and on-demand needs as they arise. Ensure that Superintendents have access to all relevant project documentation.
    • Perform vendor followup in order to keep vendors on track.
    • Assist with schedule development and updates.
    • Assist Project Managers and job site Superintendents with vendor management and scheduling.
    • Organize construction documents for field and office use.
    • Assist with estimating duties in a minor role, as needed and as available. This will include occasional attendance at pre-bid meetings and exploratory field visits.
    • Be able to communicate in a highly proficient and professional manner at all times.
    • Other presently undisclosed duties as deemed necessary, relative to the position.

    Education & Experience:

    • Minimum Bachelor's Degree (or similar) in construction or engineering related field. Sufficient experience in this same or similar position may be considered an acceptable substitute for the education requirement. Those actively pursuing the education experience noted above, including those who are nearing graduation, are encouraged to apply.
    • Experience as a Project Engineer/Coordinator/Manager is preferred.
    • Experience with construction scheduling software is preferred.
    • Experience with MacOS (Apple products) is preferred. Otherwise, general computer skills and proficiency with MS Office products is required.
    • Have a working understanding of general construction practices and be able to communicate on construction topics/methods.
    • Must be highly organized and possess excellent written and oral communication skills.

    Office Environment:

    In our office space, we are quiet and respectful towards one another. We are a smoking-free office and do not allow smoking on our premises (indoors or outdoors) during normal day-to-day operations. Furthermore, we highly discourage the use of foul language and do not tolerate abusive language towards one another.

    Office Hours & Work Requirements:

    The position is full-time (40 hours per week), whereas our typical office hours are Monday through Thursday 7 AM to 5:30 PM. This position is intended to be office-based with necessary travel to and from job sites, meeting attendance and general duty travel. This position includes a monthly allowance for personal vehicle and phone usage and reimbursement for fuel used for work purposes. An active Driver's License in good standing without restrictions is required for this position.

    This is a SALARY position. The employee in this position will not be compensated on an hourly basis unless arrangements are made otherwise. Pay is weekly.

    Pay: $52, $65,000.00 per year
