    Summary:

    The Pastoral Care Lead reports directly to the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word (CCVI) General Leadership Team (GLT) Liaison for the Center for Wholistic Care. This position provides pastoral care services and assistance for individual Sisters living at the Village of the Incarnate Word (Village) and those residing externally. This position serves as a member of the CCVI Center for Wholistic Care and collaborates with all team members and staff members at the Village. This position, along with the Resource Management Coordinator oversees duties of the Volunteer Sister Pastoral Care/Resource Management Associates.

    • Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
    • Has understanding of and commitment to the charism and mission of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word: "To actualize the saving and healing love of the Incarnate Word by promoting human dignity."
    • Works collaboratively with CCVI Center for Wholistic Care staff and the Village staff to support each Sister's well-being.
    • Reports any concerns about Sisters' level of care and well-being to CCVI Wellness Team.
    • Travel required: Visits Sisters regularly, if admitted, to the hospital or other healthcare facility.
    • Visits Sisters regularly in the Village to listen and pray.
    • Supports Sisters at times of personal grieving.
    • Welcomes new Sisters to the Village.
    • Provides prayer suggestions and material (books, tapes), including seasonal materials for Advent and Lent.
    • Engages Sisters by organizing and executing spiritual activities to include webinars.
    • Ministers in a compassionate and empathetic manner, which includes listening, caring and supporting in a way that is most beneficial to the Sister.
    • Coordinates monthly meetings for Sisters living at the Village.
    • Meets the pastoral/spiritual needs of the Sisters, including offering spiritual and comforting support to the critically ill and dying.
    • Assists and supports Sisters with funeral planning.
    • Works collaboratively with those involved for Sisters' funerals.
    • Facilitates relationship development between Sisters and the GLT to nurture a supportive environment.
    • Upholds confidentiality for all Sisters.
    • Collaborates with the staff and administration of the Village.
    • Attends all meetings and trainings as required, which may include in-service trainings and staff meetings.
    • Supervises, along with Resource Management Coordinator, Sister Volunteer Pastoral Care/Resource Management Associates.
    • Maintains confidentiality, adhering to HIPPA guidelines as appropriate.
    • Member in good standing within the Roman Catholic Church preferred.
    • Handles other duties as assigned.

    Requirements:

    • Master's degree in Theology, Divinity, or Pastoral Care preferred.
    • Chaplain experience as part of an interdisciplinary team.
    • Experience as a pastoral professional within a healthcare setting, preferably with a geriatric population
    • Four units of CPE required.
    • Board Certification with NACC, APC or NAJC preferred.
    • Valid Driver's license.
