Position Summary
The HVAC Startup Controls Foreman plays a crucial role in the supervision, commissioning, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems in commercial and industrial settings. This position ensures that all HVAC and control systems are installed, tested, and functioning according to project specifications, building codes, and client expectations. As a leader in the field, the Foreman supports technicians and apprentices while collaborating with project managers and engineers to achieve safe and successful project outcomes. Note: This is a 100% travel role.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

• Commission and start up commercial and industrial HVAC equipment, including refrigeration systems, air handling units, temperature controls, and heat pumps.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair existing HVAC and control systems to ensure proper operation and efficiency.
• Install and pressure test refrigeration piping systems, ensuring specifications are met.
• Complete and submit all startup and commissioning documentation accurately and promptly.
• Coordinate work with other trades and departments to prevent conflicts and maintain project timelines.
• Provide on-site supervision, training, and direction to apprentices and technicians involved in startup and service activities.
• Monitor project progress and report updates to project managers and leadership.
• Uphold safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free job site.
• Act as a technical resource for clients, ensuring satisfaction through professional communication and service.
• Perform additional duties as necessary to support project and company objectives.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a refrigeration/service technician, specializing in the maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of Commercial and/or Industrial HVAC Equipment and Systems.
• Universal or type 2/3 Refrigeration Certification required.
• A professional appearance and pride in quality work are essential.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills are required.
• Must be safety-conscious, organized, and possess strong verbal and writing skills.
• Capable of analyzing and troubleshooting while preparing quotes and repairing refrigeration for air handling systems and equipment, including boilers, chillers, exhaust fans, controls, refrigeration, heat pumps, steam systems, humidifiers, rooftops, VAV systems, etc.
• A clear and valid driving record is required, along with drug-free status.

Physical Demands

• The role requires standing, bending, reaching, and lifting for most of the workday.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively.
• Ability to climb ladders and work at heights of up to 100 feet or more.
• Experience working from scaffolding and lifts is necessary.
• Requires driving a company vehicle (truck) and the ability to travel long distances (up to 14 hours per day) between job sites.
• Willingness to perform other manual labor as required.
