    Registered Nurse - Surgical Specialists (outpatient role)

    Anne Arundel Medical Center's Belcher Pavilion, Annapolis, MD is seeking a Full Time Registered Nurse to join our team in an outpatient setting.

    Position Objective:

    To provide efficient and effective nursing care to patients, including triage of incoming calls, assessment of symptoms, prioritization of patient appointments, and facilitation of smooth patient flow within the office.

    Essential Job Duties:

    1. Obtains patient vital signs and prepares patients for examination by physician.
    2. Schedules surgical appointments with patient and hospital or surgical center. Schedules tests as needed.
    3. Communicates with insurance companies to obtain required authorizations.
    4. Answers patient medical questions, medication inquiries, and handles follow-up/post-operative calls.
    5. Handles DME and Home Nursing Orders.
    6. Completes patient FMLA and Return to Work forms.
    7. Manages medical supply ordering and sterilizes surgical equipment.
    8. Assists physician with in-office procedures as needed.
    9. Updates MSDS Binder and assists with answering phones.

    Educational/Experience Requirements:

    • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
    • Two years of related clinical nursing work experience.

    Required License/Certifications:

    • Current Maryland Board of Nursing license.
    • CPR certification through the American Heart Association (BLS for Healthcare Providers level).

    Working Conditions, Equipment, Physical Demands:

    The nurse will be exposed to blood-borne pathogens and will perform medium work exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
