    Reports to:Director of Adult Services
    Classification:Full-Time | Non-Exempt
Salary & Benefits:$55,000 to $60,000. The Center offers a competitive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, 401k with employer contribution, voluntary life, short-term, and long-term disability insurance, paid parental, family care, and gender affirming healthcare leave. We also offer a generous paid time off policy.
Schedule:Generally Monday through Friday. Work days and hours may shift depending on scheduling needs; typical schedule will be 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m; flexibility required. This position is classified as a hybrid role with a minimum of 3 days onsite per week, including Tuesdays through Thursdays.
Summary:The Intake Coordinator plays a foundational role in ensuring survivor safety, informed choice, and appropriate service coordination, shaping the quality and effectiveness of all subsequent program engagement. This position serves as a primary access point for LGBTQ+ individuals seeking support related to intimate partner violence, domestic violence, stalking, and related harm within The Center's Survivor Assistance Program. The Intake Coordinator manages inbound referrals, hotline calls during program hours, voicemail follow up, online intake submissions, and coordination with the Information and Referral team during non-traditional hours.
Reporting directly to the Director of Adult Services, the Intake Coordinator ensures timely, trauma-informed screening, accurate data collection, and appropriate routing of cases in coordination with the Community Casework Manager. While this role does not provide ongoing case management or counseling, it carries significant responsibility for survivor safety, informed decision making, and continuity of care at the point of entry, including escalation to Survivor Support Counselors or crisis resources when indicated.
    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Conduct trauma-informed, non-clinical intake screenings to domestic and intimate partner violence survivors.
    • Respond to Survivor Assistance Hotline calls during program hours; returns after-hours voicemails, reviews online pre-intake submissions, and coordinates referrals from partner agencies.
    • Gather demographic information, screens for immediate safety concerns using established protocols, identifies service needs, and determines eligibility for program services.
    • Using established decision trees and intake protocols, the Intake Specialist determines appropriate next steps, including case management assignment, internal referrals, external referrals, or escalation to Survivor Support Counselors or crisis resources when needed.
    • Coordinate with the Community Casework Manager to assign cases to Survivor Support Coordinators and Counselor.
    • Ensure a smooth transition to case management staff members that includes complete documentation, identified risks, and service priorities.
    • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including intake records, referral sources, service flags, and follow up actions required for compliance and reporting.
    • Support grant reporting by ensuring intake level data is complete, consistent, and aligned with HRA requirements.
    • Coordinate daily check-ins with the Information and Referral team to ensure individuals who contact The Center during evenings or weekends receive accurate information and timely follow up for non emergency survivor support.
    • Participate in daily case huddles and weekly case conferences to support quality assurance and shared understanding of service trends.
    • Work closely across the organization to support program operations.
    • Contribute to the refinement of intake tools, scripts, voicemail messaging, and workflow processes as the program evolves.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    Position Requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience providing non-clinical, direct services to survivors of domestic violence or related populations.
    • Two (2) to four (4) years of experience working with LGBTQ+ communities and an understanding of the dynamics of domestic and intimate partner violence.
    • Spanish language proficiency is strongly preferred. Fluency in other languages is a plus.
    • Familiarity with trauma informed, survivor centered, and anti oppressive practice frameworks is essential.
    • Comfort using data systems and maintaining detailed case documentation is required.
    • Strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively in a fast paced, trauma exposed environment.
    • Knowledge, understanding and experience working with LGBTQ+, TGNC, POC, and Immigrant populations, including knowledge of the spectrum of gender identity, transgender issues, immigration, and POC issues.
    • Understanding of, and commitment to, undoing structural and institutional racism and bias and the spectrum of gender identity and bias. Consideration of the impacts and outcomes in decision-making processes and on underserved and historically oppressed communities.
    • A strong commitment to social justice and the mission of The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community Center.
The Center's Commitment to Equity & Inclusivity:
The Center was born of community activism in response to the AIDS epidemic, ensuring a place for LGBTQ people to access information, care, and support that they were not receiving elsewhere. We opened in 1983 to help people who had doors constantly closed in their faces, ostracized by family, friends, and shunned by the general society. Since that time, we have continually provided a wide array of services and programs to serve our community, with an intentional focus on providing support to those who are most vulnerable. We have always taken great care to be a space that responds to community needs; engaging in diversity, equity and inclusion work is another outgrowth of those ongoing efforts. We recognize that in order to help LGBTQ individuals and our diverse community achieve parity in health, justice, opportunity and success outcomes, our organization must hold a strong foundation and competency in, as well as invest organizational focus on, equity and inclusion frameworks, practices and policies. This is also true in our hiring and retention of staff.
