    National Medical Manager – Gastroenterology & Microbiome

    Your day at Ferring

    Areas of accountability include:

    • Leads medical communication to Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and customers, leveraging the spread of knowledge to enhance the reputation of Ferring and its products. This lays the foundation of business achievements for the assigned therapeutic areas/products (GI & Microbiome). The position is also responsible for steering the strategic medical business focus for the therapeutic area/products. This is a customer facing position and may have direct reports.
    • Increases awareness and reputation of assigned Ferring products (Pentasa, Cortiment and launch products)
    • Provides high quality medical and scientific support and communications to internal and external customers (e.g. advisory board meetings, regional training courses/workshops together with KOL/ROL, support of speakers with presentations and literature research)
    • Plans strategic medical activities in alignment with marketing strategy.
    • Writes and ensures timely submission of locally relevant abstracts at congresses.
    • Answers product- and indication-specific customer FAQ's.
    • Generate additional data to support understanding the efficacy of assigned Ferring Products
    • Develops and manages Phase IV studies and IIS and ensures that proposals are aligned with medical objectives within Ferring locally and globally. This includes the whole process according to the SOP. Furthermore, study projects need to be in line with commercial objectives.
    • Enhance Commercial opportunities based on medical insights.
    • Ensures planned local medical activities are transferred to physicians by sales representatives.
    • Maintains high level of scientific and technical expertise in therapeutic areas.
    • Develops and increases knowledge of medical literature. Prepares and presents critical reviews of scientific publications and congresses, internally and externally.
    • Overseas necessary documentations (e.g., CRM reports to ensure insight generation and knowledge preservation, call reports, expenses, etc.), as well as other tools to develop and follow up on strategic measures (project plans).
    • Improve access and reimbursement for Ferring products.
    • Supports cross functional Market Access activities.
    • Identify challenges and opportunities for Ferring products, and response tactics.
    • Monitors competitor activities within the therapeutic area.
    • Intake and reporting of complaints and adverse reaction reports (ADRs) to the appropriate Ferring Canada team, as per the current reporting procedures.

    EDUCATION

    • Post-graduate degree e.g., PhD, MD, PharmD
    • Training in therapeutic area is an asset.

    EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

    • Minimum 5 years of experience within the pharmaceutical industry, including prior experience and a successful track record as a Medical Science Liaison or within a Medical Affairs department.
    • Experience in scientific presentations and development of relationships with KOLs and external stakeholders
    • Fluent in English – written and verbal.
    • Fluent in French – written and verbal, is an asset.

    SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE

    • Solid scientific background with a thorough grasp of the pharmaceutical industry and clinical operations
    • Superior ability to think strategically and critically.
    • Knowledge in data analysis and statistics for purpose of understanding/interpreting clinical study results.
    • Current working knowledge of legal, regulatory, and compliance regulations and guidelines relevant to industry interactions with health-care professionals
    • Understanding of the Canadian healthcare infrastructure, including the role of academic teaching and research institutes
    • Proven track record of teamwork, leadership, performance, and result orientation to meet objectives.
    • Superior communication skills, ability to present clearly and persuasively, engender trust and respect among peers and subordinates.
    • Proficient and comfortable with business plans, clinical development plans, corporate and franchise strategic plans and product profiles
    • Willingness to travel to various meetings, educational congresses, and may include overnight trips. Some international travel may be required. Approximately 25% travel anticipated.
