Summary:

The Quality Engineer is responsible for analyzing manufacturing planning to ensure compliance with customer specifications and evaluating outside suppliers to maintain quality standards.

Additionally, they program and perform layout inspections of forged, machined, and finished assemblies using a portable CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) articulating Romer Arm and PCDMIS software.

Pay Rate:
$36 - $38/hr

Status:
Contract (potential for direct hire after 60 days)

Location:
Orange, CA

Schedule:

6:00am – 2:30pm (M-F), or 5:00am – 1:30pm (M-F)

Must be a U.S. citizen or Perm Resident

Essential Functions:
Develop reports for analyzing corrective actions in cases of excessive defect rates.
Approve outside suppliers based on established criteria.
Prepare Quality Assurance operation instructions, procedures, policies, guidelines, and manuals.
Implement calibration activities to minimize variances.
Ensure compliance with ISO/AS9100 Quality Management Systems.
Coordinate rework, customer returns, and nonconforming product processing.
Interpret engineering drawings, process specifications, and blueprints to verify compliance.
Utilize online data systems and electronic media for verification and data entry.
Prioritize work to meet commitments and deadlines.
Conduct risk assessment and apply risk assessment tools.
Knowledge of AMS2750 for pyrometry in heat treatment.
Conduct Nadcap audits and complete checklists for NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) and Heat Treat.
Lead the RCA (Root Cause Analysis) process and contract review process.
Perform customer surveys and supplier rating/audit.
Champion the Non-conforming control process and ECT (Eddy Current Testing) process.
Perform other assigned duties.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent with five years of Quality Engineering experience in aerospace; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CMM/Romer Arm Programming with PC DMIS software is a bonus.
Strong Root Cause and Corrective Action skills.
Ability to interpret aerospace drawings and specifications.
Strong computer skills.
Ability to write reports, create charts, and speak effectively.
Proficiency in mathematical concepts and statistical process control.
Knowledge of manufacturing processing and standard auditing procedures.
Minimum 1 year experience using a Romer Arm or Faro Arm CMM with PCDMIS software.

Working Conditions:
Indoors within a Manufacturing facility.
Office area within the Machine Shop and Support office buildings.

Physical Abilities:
Ability to bend, twist, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, balance, kneel, or squat as needed.
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. from ground level to waist repeatedly over the course of the shift.
