    Job Title: Technical Associate - Research & Development

    Duration: 12 Months+

    Location: Wilmington, DE 19803

    Schedule: Monday-Friday: 08 AM – 05 PM

    Job Description:

    Qualifications:

    Ø Under minimal guidance, conducts experiments, complex technical operations, or information search/analysis projects and optimizes and interprets methodologies and analysis and suggests experiments or alternative approaches.

    Ø Recognizes erroneous or unexpected results, interprets, and analyzes results and makes suggestions based on their analysis and conclusions. Interprets and analyzes results, makes suggestions on path forward and contributes to formulating work plans and managing daily workflow. Independently adapts new methodology to current projects.

    Responsibilities:

    Ø The candidate will assume a variety of responsibilities in support of the X-ray scattering and Microscopy groups within Client's Analytical Sciences Laboratories located in Experimental Stations, Wilmington, DE. The candidate will work under the direction of technical staff to provide analytical support for R&D, TS&D and Manufacturing as needed.

    Key job responsibilities include:

    Ø Preparation of samples, reagents, and standards for analysis, following standard procedures.

    Ø XRD data acquisition and assessing basic data quality.

    Ø X-ray tomography data acquisition and assessing basic data quality.

    Ø Electron microscopy data acquisition and assessing basic data quality.

    Ø Perform routine instrument operation.

    Ø Dispose of lab waste, following a set protocol

    Ø Cleaning and restocking lab areas as needed.

    Ø Skills in sample preparation, safely handling chemicals, and experience with a variety of lab equipment in a chemical laboratory setting is essential to this position.

    Ø An ability to work well with other people under tight timelines and conflicting priorities is critical.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Ø B.S. in chemistry, materials science, physics, or engineering or demonstration of equivalent knowledge acquired in on-the-job training.

    Comments/Special Instructions:

    Ø Candidate with prior experience in X-ray Science or Microscopy is highly preferred.

    Ø 1-3 years industrial experience is preferred. New grad with prior experience in a scientific laboratory setting is also acceptable.
