    Duties


    • You will perform a variety of routine duties in support of professional engineers and engineering technicians.
    • You will assist engineers and technicians in preparing work procedures, which sequence work and/or testing and provides explicit instructions for inspections, connection of temporary systems and/or testing of equipment.
    • You will assist engineers and technicians in reviewing inspection data such as inspection reports and deficiencies.
    • You will assist engineers and technicians in preparing changes to specific technical procedures, both locally developed or detailed technical requirements, established by higher authority

    Qualifications TO QUALIFY FOR GS-5: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-4 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
    Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying standardized rules or procedures of engineering to assist higher-graded engineers or technicians in a variety of engineering specializations
    TO QUALIFY FOR GS-4: Your resume must demonstrate at least six months of general experience plus six months of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-3 level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
    Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying basic or commonly used rules or procedures of engineering to assist higher-graded engineers or technicians in a variety of engineering specializations

    Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment
    Education Education may be substituted for experience as follows: For the GS-5:


    • Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with major study in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology; or (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics; OR
    • A combination of education and experience as described above that equates to one year of experience

    For the GS-4:

    • Two years of post-secondary study that included at least 12 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics; OR
    • A combination of education and experience as described above that equates to one year of experience
