- Graduate of an accredited professional advanced practice nursing education program or
- Valid advanced practice registered nurse license to practice professional nursing in Texas from the Board of Nursing Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate with employees, patrons and general public.
- Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision- making.
- Nurse Practitioners provide diagnostic and therapeutic medical care and services to employees, spouses and their dependents.
- Assists in observation and evaluation of patients.
- Performs case histories, conducts physical examinations and order point of care tests.
- Assess a patient's condition and to initiate appropriate treatment; knowledge of pharmaceuticals and treat diseases and illnesses, to include a knowledge of the mechanisms of action, side effects, toxic nature, and drug interactions of medications; ability to perform and interpret diagnostics tests in order to determine therapeutic treatment plans; and ability to deal effectively with patients in a one-on-one situation.
- Follows an orderly approach to handling work and sets priorities. Is conscious of fluctuations in workloads and makes necessary adjustments to ensure a smooth workflow to meet deadlines
- Recommends diagnostic or therapeutic interventions with attention to safety, cost, invasiveness, simplicity, acceptability, adherence, and efficacy.
- Questions old methods where inadequate and suggests new ones; and, takes initiative to develop alternate solutions to problems within the framework of the job.
- Entering, transcribing, recording, storing or maintaining information in written or electronic/magnetic form.
- Educates patients about self-management of acute or chronic illnesses, tailoring instructions to patients' individual's circumstances.
- Upholds and adheres to safety rules and policies of the FISD safety program.
- Supports the goals and objectives of the school district and follows all district policies.
- Demonstrates the ability to attend work on a regular and routine basis to avoid disruption to district operations
- Performs any other duties as assigned by the appropriate supervisor.
- Provides optimal customer service to all employees, spouses and their dependents that visit the employee health clinic.
- Maintain emotional control under stress.
- Work with frequent interruptions.
- Exposure to biological hazards, bacteria and communicable diseases
- Mentoring of employee health clinic health services staff.
- Orientation of new Health Services staff and substitute staff of employee clinic.
- Assist in directing the work of assigned NP support staff.
