    Responsibilities

    The Systems Engineering Division (SED) is responsible for providing strategic support to the Department of Homeland Security Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Office of Acquisition (OA). This role requires a subject matter expert with advanced technical capabilities in multiple disciplines to support CBP's mission. As a team lead, you will provide a supportive environment for teammates to ensure job satisfaction through professional development, mentoring, coaching, and promoting growth opportunities.

    Client Delivery Responsibilities:

    • Provide strategic support and contribute to the efficient execution of the division's activities as they relate to systems engineering for acquisition support.
    • Provide advanced technical knowledge and expertise for next-generation CBP systems.
    • Acquisition and Engineering Document Development Support.
    • Requirements Analysis and Development Support.
    • Trade Studies, Constraint Evaluation and Cost Benefits Reports Support.
    • Software Engineering Analysis Support.
    • Test and Evaluation (T&E) Support.
    • Communications, Sensor and Surveillance Systems Support.
    • Enterprise Architecture and Engineering Support.
    • Systems Engineering Management (SEM) Support, with possible use of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools.
    • Systems Engineering Strategic Communications/Web Developer Support.
    • Modeling, & Simulation and Performance Analysis Support.
    • Functional and Specialty Engineering Support.
    • SED Operations Action Officer Support.
    Key Deliverables:
    • Provide high-level visionary advice to program/project manager or senior leadership to influence objectives of complex efforts.
    • Routine tasks including scheduling, writing internal memos, maintaining and updating Program Management records, filing, intranet website maintenance, preparing and reviewing presentations, records maintenance, and coordinating daily operations of the assigned program.
    • Coordinate, track, and provide assistance in responding to program-aligned data calls, compile information, and prepare information for reporting to senior leadership, with a particular emphasis on items requiring technical content and information.
    Qualifications:
    • A minimum of 15 years of demonstrated expertise in systems engineering, including strategic planning, innovative concepts, thought leadership, and team management.
    • Bachelor's or higher degree highly preferred.
    • Eligibility to obtain CBP/DHS Suitability (US citizenship required to be eligible for suitability).
    • Active DHS Suitability, Secret, or Top Secret clearance are preferred.
