    As a Registered Nurse(RN) in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit(SICU),you willbe responsibleforproviding directnursing care,monitoringpatients' health,implementing andmonitoringpatient care plans, administering medicationsand treatments, andmaintainingup-to-date patient records.     Responsibilities:

    • Providesdirect nursing care in accordance with established policies,procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization. Implementsand monitors patient care plans.
    • Monitors,records and communicates patient condition asappropriate.
    • Monitors and documents patient'scondition and effectiveness and timeliness of care and/orinterventions.
    • Evaluates, updates and revisesplan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expectedoutcomes.
    • Serves as a primary coordinator ofall disciplines for well-coordinated patientcare.
    • Administers prescribed medications andtreatments in accordance with approved nursingprotocol.
    • Notes and carries out physician andnursing orders.
    • Assesses and coordinatespatient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcareteam.
    • Assesses educational needs of the patientand significant others considering cultural issues and otherspecial concerns.
    • Provides teaching andeducational material as appropriate.
    • Validatesand documents patient and family understanding ofteaching.
    • Maintains professional growth anddevelopment through ongoing formal and informal education andclinical nursing study.
    • Other duties asassigned.

    Education:

    • Graduatefrom an accredited school of professional nursing. BSNpreferred.
    • Critical Care Course for the acutecare setting.
    • Periop 101 or validated OJT forthe Operating roomsetting.

    Certifications:

    • Currentstate licensure as Registered Nurse (RN).
    • Proofof Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association(AHA) must be presented upon hire.
    • AdvancedCardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association(AHA) certification must be presented upon hire or within firstyear of employment based on the department service level RN ishired into.
    • Within one year of hire RNs inNICU, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) through American HeartAssociation (AHA) provider status
    • Within oneyear of hire RNs in Labor and Delivery, must achieve and maintainAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American HeartAssociation (AHA)
    • ONS Chemo/Bio course completewithin 1 year of employment if employed on units inpatient and/oroutpatient where chemo is administered.
    • If inan Adult/Combined EDs, ACLS upon hire or within one year ofbeginning work in the Emergency Department.
    • Ifin an area providing care to Pediatrics, Pediatric AdvancedLife Support (PALS) through American Heart Association (AHA) uponhire or within one year of beginning work in the EmergencyDepartment.
    • In Dedicated Trauma Centers, TraumaNursing Core Course (TNCC - adult) or Emergency Nurse PediatricCourse (ENPC - pediatric) upon hire or within 24 months ofbeginning work in the Emergency Department.
    • Anyregistered nurse or advanced practice nurse must obtain a cancerspecific certification or demonstrate ongoing qualifying educationwithin the timeframe of the facilities accreditation cycle, if theywork in medical oncology, radiation oncology, cancer centeror cancer clinic and/or administer chemotherapy within anaccredited Cleveland Clinicfacility.

    Complexityof Work:

    • Requirescritical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to workwith minimal supervision.
    • Must be able to workin a stressful environment and take appropriateaction.

    WorkExperience:

    • Minimumone year current acute care RN experience in a hospital settingrequired for acute care settings.
    • Minimum oneyear current acute care RN experience and/or skilled nursingfacility (SNF) experience required for SNF caresettings.
    • Minimum one year current acute careRN experience and/or rehab experience required for rehab caresettings.
    • Minimum one year current acute careRN experience and/or Emergency Department (ED) experience requiredfor ED settings.
    • Will consider licensedmilitary RNexperience.

    PhysicalRequirements:

    • Requiresfull range of body motion including handling and lifting patient,manual and finger dexterity, and eye-handcoordination.
    • Requires standing and walking forextended periods of time.
    • Requires correctedvision and hearing to normal range.
    • Requiresworking under stressful conditions and irregularhours.
    • Exposure to communicable diseases and/orbody fluids.
    • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of forcefrequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of forceconstantly to move objects.
    • Physical Demandrequirements are in excess of those for LightWork.

    PersonalProtectiveEquipment:

    • Followsstandard precautions using personal protective equipment asrequired.
