    • Serve as a resource to the mother-baby nurse regarding the care of the newborn
    • Responsible for observation of babies while in the nursery
    • Communicate and collaborate with pediatricians and neonatologists in the care of the newborns
    • Perform and assist in special procedures for the baby (blood cultures, diagnostic workups, angle tolerance tests, etc.)
    • Assists physicians with circumcisions and oversees baby immediately post-procedure
    • Assists with admissions, discharges, and transfers of newborns to and from the unit
    • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and licensed as a RN in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations.
    • Minimum of 2 years' full-time experience as a RN post-orientation or post-residency training in Level I, II or III nursery; newborn; NICU and/or Mother/Baby units.
    • Certified in Neonatal Resuscitation
    • Newborn admission assessment experience
    • Proof of annual continuing education credits and/or hours in newborn care; minimum of 16 hours/credits within the past 2 years.
    • Certified in American Heart Association's Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).
    • Please refer to the specific clinical unit for additional education, competencies and/or certifications required as a condition of employment.

    KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES/LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION PREFERRED:

    • BSN degree in Nursing preferred
    • National Certification in Clinical Specialty preferred
    • Other preferred RN attributes are unit specific.
