- The Staff Accountant works closely with the Controller to ensure compliance with accounting, procedures, requirements, and guidelines.
- Primarily responsibility for daily finance operations and project compliance along with month-end close reporting.
- Ensures that accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles, and that internal policies and controls are followed.
- Assists with the month-end close process.
- Assists with the preparation of monthly income statements, WIP reports, and various monthly closing and cost accounting reports.
- Prepares journal entries, balance sheet schedules & reconciliations.
- Oversees/prepares intercompany and intracompany invoicing, processes & transactions.
- Oversees/prepares project lien waivers & compliance documents.
- Manages project subcontractor process; pay applications, change order processing, month-end accruals, payment & compliance verification.
- Assists project teams with pay applications; reviews, enters & follows up on payment status.
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal reporting requirements; prepares and\or oversees preparation of reports to government and regulatory agencies.
- Ensures integrity of financial records by maintaining a strong internal control environment in compliance with Company policies, GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley; provides feedback of any corrective action required.
- Prepares ad hoc reports and works on special projects as requested.
- Associates Degree in Accounting; Bachelor's Degree preferred
- A minimum of 3 years finance or accounting experience; job costing preferred
- Knowledge of finance, accounting and cost control principles
- Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems; JDE a plus
- Ability to perform with a high level of discretion, professionalism, and integrity
- Ability to manage multiple projects within tight timeframes
- Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with managers and staff in various locations
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office suite with advanced Excel skills
- Frequently sits for long periods of time
- Frequently speaks, reads, writes, and uses a computer keyboard
- May require occasional standing, walking, lifting, stooping, or bending
