The Roasting & Production Assistant will have a strong work ethic, focus, adaptability, creativity and enthusiasm.

The specialty coffee industry is a fun, spirited, socially conscious, ever-evolving industry. Something to be excited about

Roasting experience is appreciated, but it is not a requirement. However, the candidate must have at least 1-2 years of experience as a barista in a specialty coffee shop. A working knowledge of the journey coffee takes from seed to cup is vital to this role.

The candidate must be okay standing for most of the day and be capable of lifting 50lbs or more; this is a hard-working, fast-paced work environment. An acute sense of sight, smell, and taste is also necessary.

Key responsibilities include:

• Shadowing the Head Roaster and roasting coffee under their supervision; or roasting in their absence, after such independence is earned.
• Learning and abiding by existing roast profiles and blends.
• Helping to sample roast new coffees.
• Weighing, labeling and packaging roasted coffee when needed on the production line.
• Rotating/maintaining roasted coffee inventory.
• Helping to receive/organize bi-weekly shipments of green coffee.
• Performing regular cleaning duties to maintain organization in the roasting room.
• Participating in weekly coffee cuppings and other quality control/educational exercises.
• Transporting coffee to warehouse facility for pick-up, shipping, or delivery.
• Loading/preparing green coffee for roasting queue.
• Organizing used burlap/jute bags
