    JOBS SUPERVISED: NA

    ASSIGNMENT LENGTH:
Two-years, renewal yearly by mutual consent and availability of funds

    POSITION SUMMARY:

The Population Council confronts critical health and development issues - from stopping the spread of HIV to improving reproductive health and ensuring that young people lead full and productive lives.

Through biomedical, social science and public health research in 30 countries, we work with our partners to deliver solutions that lead to more effective policies, programs and technologies that improve lives around the world.

The goal of the Center for Biomedical Research (CBR) is to develop novel sexual and reproductive health technologies, including contraceptives and multipurpose prevention technologies that will ultimately receive approval by stringent regulatory authorities.

The Center for Biomedical Research (CBR) is seeking applications from LMIC-based pharmaceutical development scientists to develop translational drug formulations in the area of sexual and reproductive health and advance the formulations to preclinical and early clinical testing.

The objectives of this fellowship are to (I) design and develop novel topical, oral, injectable or implantable dosage forms for new drug candidates to prevent HIV, STIs, and pregnancy via scalable fabrication techniques, (II) engineer optimal drug release profile and pharmacokinetics, (III) evaluate stability of the formulation and loaded drugs, and (IV) validate safety and activity of the developed formulations.

The fellowship offers an exciting opportunity for successful candidate to gain exposure on innovative drug delivery technologies and pharmaceutical development approach from preclinical studies to manufacturing process designs in the Angsantikul Lab.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will also collaborate with researchers in other biomedical laboratories at the Population Council to advance the development of new Multipurpose prevention technologies (MPTs).

The Population Council laboratories are located on the Rockefeller University campus, through which there is access to additional numerous state-of-the-art facilities.
