    Summary



    Incumbent serves as a Program Support Assistant/OA in the office of the ACOS, Behavioral Health Service Line (BHSL). The primary duty is to act as the commitment coordinator for the BHSL and VAPHS.

    Duties




    Major Duties:
    Coordinates 302, 303, 304, 305 and 306 commitment hearings for patients who has a determination of an involuntary commitment. Liaison with providers, Veteran Allegheny County Mental Health and Allegheny County Orphans Court.

    Works with commitment paperwork, obtaining intentions as a course of treatment to ensure the veterans rights are not being violated.

    Trains staff on rules and regulations pertaining to 302 commitments. Tracks training and staff that have commitment software. If VA is mandated to transport patients to the court of appeal, the commitment coordinator will accompany the patient. Tracks voluntary and involuntary commitments for data comparisons. Maintains spreadsheets with scheduled hearings and the resulting outcome of each hearing. Works with bed management to bring Veterans in from outlying facilities.

    Primary back up for the program support assistant for the BHSL and provides guidance to clerical support staff.


    Coordinates with affiliated universities for resident education, physician assistants and CRNP students and back up for psychology interns and PhD students which includes office assignments, ePas requests, PIV requests and physical orientation to VAPHS and the BHSL.

    Tracks resident and student start and end dates, schedules CPRS training, request/recover ID badges, request/terminate parking. Track resident and student time and leave, sends monthly reports. PIV sponsor, ADPAC administrator and TMS administrator. Completes time and leave for staff. Tracks key requests. Initiates and performs a variety of administrative duties. Completes functions in the scheduling package.
