Summary:

UNC Fertility Clinic is hiring a Senior Embryologist to join their team The position's primary focus is to lead the daily operation of the human in-vitro fertilization laboratory.

Responsibilities:

• This position manages and oversees conventional insemination, egg retrievals, oocyte stripping, embryo transfers, embryo/egg freezing and thawing, micromanipulation of eggs and sperm for intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) , assisted hatching (AH) and embryo biopsy.
• Maintains accurate and thorough laboratory records, ensuring all patient information is documented appropriately in the medical records system. Audits record-keeping performed by the lab team and makes recommendations for improvements when required.
• Independently analyzes and interprets lab results and supervises other members of the lab team in analysis and interpretation. Communications results and findings with doctors, nurses, and patients as appropriate.
• Designs and develops continuing quality improvements programs for the embryology team. Oversees and trains junior staff in quality control and ensures team members follow all protocols.
• Develops training and communication protocols and educational programs for patients and their families on issues such as infertility evaluations, medications, treatment protocols, and procedures.
• Communications results and findings with doctors, nurses, and patients as appropriate.

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in biology or a related field.

Licensure/Certification Requirements:

• None required.

Professional Experience Requirements:

• At least five years of experience with a clinical in-vitro fertilization program.
