- Build strong relationships with clinicians, administrators, and revenue cycle colleagues.
- Effectively communicate complex clinical concepts to coding guidelines in the Outpatient CDI program.
- Manage time efficiently, balancing physician documentation requirements and deadlines.
- Translate documentation into ICD-10-CM codes by understanding payment structures and reimbursement methodologies in outpatient settings.
- Conduct educational presentations for physicians, group practices, and administration.
- Stay updated on risk adjustment, CDI requirements, and coding guidelines through continuing education.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations regarding protected health information confidentiality.
- Utilize various EMRs and technologies for record analysis.
- Education: Minimum of an Associate degree in a healthcare-related program.
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience in healthcare, nursing, business, or finance.
- License or Certification: CDIS or HIM (coding) credentialing through ACDIS, AHIMA, and/or AAPC. Alternatively, LPN or RN licensure with three years of ICD-10 and/or CPT/HCPCS coding. Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist - Outpatient (CCDS-O) required within three years.

What you'll do:
As an Ambulatory CDI Specialist, your primary responsibility is to facilitate clear communication between providers and coders/billers to ensure precise claim submissions. You'll analyze patient medical records in the clinic setting to accurately represent the severity of illness and risk adjustment for proper coding. In this role, you'll concentrate on attributed patients in the AdvantagePoint Health Alliance clinically integrated networks through pre-visit and pre-bill CDI reviews.
