    Job Description

    The Director of Reunion and Class Engagement manages the Reunion and Class Agent program. The Director manages and develops a team of five FT staff and will be responsible for overseeing the direction and management of these programs, including the strategy, marketing and volunteer recruitment. The Director will be tasked with further enhancing data reporting, planning, and the marketing efforts of Reunion /Homecoming and the Class Agent program in order to engage additional alumni through peer-to-peer engagement and increase attendance at Reunion/Homecoming weekend.

    The Department of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) assists Vanderbilt University in securing the resources, both human and financial, that are required to achieve its mission and goals. The Department is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individuals and organizations whose charitable objectives are consistent with those of Vanderbilt University's teaching and research programs.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    The Director of Reunion and Class Engagement will be responsible for driving strategy, development, and planning for Reunion and class-based programming, data reporting and volunteer management. The Director will lead a team of four Associate Directors who will work with reunion classes and complementary non-reunion years to recruit and manage peer volunteers. The Director will guide the overall recruitment process and manage volunteer communications while working in conjunction with team members to execute a plan designed to increase number and impact of volunteers and generate a larger percentage of undergraduate alumni giving back. In addition, the Director will oversee one Assistant Director who manages undergraduate Reunion registration, the digital presence of Undergraduate Reunion, and a small cohort of volunteers.
    • Manages a team of four Associate Directors in identification, recruitment and deployment of reunion and class agent volunteers for approximately 45,000 undergraduate alumni.
    • Designs and implements a focused plan to grow participation from undergraduate classes through increased volunteer outreach and peer-to-peer Class Agent and Reunion solicitation
    • In partnership with Senior Director, collaborates with Signature Events team to plan and execute Reunion, Homecoming and the class agent program; collaborates with Marketing teams to manage promotion (includes marketing calendar, print pieces, emails, social media ads, website, photography and video); and collaborates with Information Management to innovate and streamline data reporting and analysis.
    • Works with Development Officers to identify and recruit volunteers, and to solicit volunteers as needed for annual gifts to ensure 100% participation from volunteers
    • Serves as primary point of contact for overall Reunion General Chair(s), managing the relationship and tasks associated with the role, in collaboration with the Senior Director
    • Serves as liaison to Professional School partners to coordinate the Reunion experience for all alumni
    • Performs other duties as assigned
    Supervisory Relationships:

    This position has supervisory responsibility of four Associate Directors and one Assistant Director. This position reports administratively and functionally to the Senior Director of Class and Community Engagement Schools in the Office of Annual Giving.

    Qualifications
    • A bachelor's degree, or the equivalent, is required.
    • Five or more years of relevant experience is required, preferably in higher education development.
    • One year supervisory experience is required.

    • Strong organizational and communication skills
    • Ability to work independently but also collaboratively in a team environment
    • Interpersonal skills and judgment suitable for exercising appropriate discretion and demeanor when dealing with alumni, parents, friends, and employees
    • Ability to exercise good judgment in the handling of confidential information
    • Ability to use current computer technology, such as Windows, Excel, Word, and Vanderbilt's donor management system
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Ability to work independently, take initiative, manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and adapt to ever changing priorities
