    DESCRIPTION:

    Premier luxury lifestyle hotel in Santa Monica is seeking an experienced, creative and committed Sous Chef to assist with the operations of two bustling, Chef-driven restaurants.

    **Experience cooking in a notable, Chef-driven culinary environment is preferred.**

    Responsibilities

    • Quality control in keeping with the theme of the restaurants and facility.
    • Test and modify recipes.
    • Train kitchen staff and oversee preparation of dishes by cooks.
    • Monitor inventory and place orders as needed.
    • Ensure all BOH-related activities comply with food safety and handling policies.
    • May be responsible for special orders for parties or events.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Prefer degree or certification in culinary arts
    • 5+ years of cooking experience in upscale, Chef-driven kitchens.
    • 1+ year of management and/or supervisory experience in BOH ops.
    • High volume + detailed plating experience.
    • Banquet/Production experience a plus
    • Performs work seamlessly under direct supervision.
    • Self starter with a strong work ethic.
    • Ability to work as part of a team. Oral communication skills. Customer/client orientation.
    • Detail oriented. Attentiveness. Organizational skills. Design expertise.
    • Ability to understand and follow directions.
    • Time management skills. Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
    • Experience with Italian and/or European cuisine is a plus.
