    Default job background
    Engineering / Architecture
    Description

Nanohmics is seeking an individual contributor with demonstrated broad-spectrum experience in developing instrumentation. Candidates should have a working knowledge of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, optical engineering, software/firmware programming, data collection, and data management. This is a hands-on/laboratory role, though exposure to simulation tools and basic project management practices is welcome. Preference will be given to candidates that have worked previously on remote sensing technologies. We highly value contributors that can organize and present the results of their efforts in both formal and informal communications.

In your application, please highlight full-project-scope accomplishments. In this role, successful garage tinkering projects that require a broad range of skills would be weighed more heavily than narrow, deep experience with a single component of mission-critical flight hardware. And please show your attention to detail by calling out, in a cover page or your resume, a specific project that you worked on and want to discuss in a screening call.

The candidate must have an undergraduate, master's, or Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a closely related field. We are interviewing entry-level through Sr-level candidates for this position.

    Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work with a team of scientists and engineers to design, implement, and test hardware and software for defense-oriented optical sensing technologies in support of company efforts to bring novel instrumentation from component-level demonstrations up to low-rate initial production.

    Qualifications

    • BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering/ECE, or physical sciences with demonstrated experience in embedded systems design and engineering
    • Fundamental understanding of digital/analog/mixed signal electronics and interface/communication standards, particularly for imaging systems and control systems
    • Working knowledge of common electronic circuits and components, control systems, device communication, and optical components
    • Proficient in SolidWorks and other engineering design and simulation suites
    • Proficient in scripting (Python, VBScript, Bash, etc.) and compiled (C, C++, etc.) programming languages
    • Proficient in embedded systems program (Arduinos, Raspberry Pi, Xilinx, etc.)
    • Proficient in FEA and other tools for numerical simulations of physical systems
    • Proficient with electronics bench test equipment, e.g. oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers
    • Highly motivated self-starter and problem solver
    • Collaborative and team-oriented
    • U.S. citizenship / eligible for security clearance
