    Overview

    The Office Manager/Staff Accountant will provide support to all OVG departments at the venue including the General Manager, Event Services Manager, and Director of Finance. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to,assisting part time employees and full time staff with eTime and payroll related functions, processing and entering A/P, A/R, and cash receipts, front office duties including but not limited to daily mail, ordering supplies, answering telephones, shipping and receiving, and assisting guests of Chartway Arena.

    This role will pay a salary of $42,000 to $47,000.

    Chartway Arena is a 9,100-seat multi-purpose arena located on the campus of Old Dominion University. Operated by OVG360 since it opened in 2002, Chartway Arena is known as one of the premier mid-sized collegiate venues in the country.     Responsibilities

  • Provide general office and clerical support including but not limited to filing, copying, telephone inquiries, daily mail processing, shipping and receiving.
  • Responsible for maintaining office equipment and supplies for all departments.
  • Supervision of part-time receptionists and oversee all aspects of front desk operations.
  • Responsible for assisting all new hires with onboarding process and background checks.
  • Responsible for maintaing and updating ADP eTime system including timecards and event coding.
  • Oversee the process of performing background checks and pre-employment drug tests.
  • Process and prepare accounts payable invoices and payments.
  • Resolve any issues with vendors or outstanding invoices in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and distribute AP checks on a weekly basis or as needed.
  • Prepare and process all cash receipts, including daily box office deposits.
  • Relay any accounting, HR, employee relations, safety, policy, or procedural concerns, and any situation that may result in disciplinary action, to the Director of Finance or General Manager in a timely and responsible manner.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications

  • Three years of general accounting/bookkeeping experience required with supervisory experience.
  • A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting.
  • Ability to complete and pass a test of accounting skills and knowledge.
  • Ability to adhere to highest standards of ethics, integrity, professionalism, and discretion.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely in the English language, both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of team and with all levels of management.
  • Strong customer service, organizational and interpersonal skills required.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in limited hours of availability.
  • Procedures, methods, applications and techniques of generally accepted accounting principles
  • Computer applications/programs to perform accounting functions
  • Experience with Sage 100, ADP Enterprise and eTime Software
  • Proficient knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook
