    Description
    ORGANIZATIONAL DESCRIPTION

    Ensure proper infection control and sanitization processes for hospital through general and terminal cleaning policy and procedure.

    INTERACTION

    Primarily Interacts with: administration, physicians, employees, clinical and non-clinical departments, patients, and visitors.

    PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
    • Perform daily cleaning of patient rooms, restrooms, non-patient areas, and public areas using prescribed cleaning procedures and universal precautions.
    • Handle special requests of cleaning with ease and adjust schedule to include these tasks.
    • Follow specific procedure to perform terminal cleaning of patient rooms and prepare rooms for new patients.
    • Use industrial cleaning agents and equipment following appropriate safety procedures.
    • Operate the Speed Scrub 300, IMOP machines and vacuums.
    • Move furniture and other objects as needed in order to ensure adequate cleaning.
    • Perform the removal of trash, bio-hazard material, dirty linen, and sharp containers from areas to appropriate storage.
    • Replace soiled linen with clean linen.
    • Keep areas that require supplies fully stocked.
    • Check all assigned areas and tasks for completion before end of shift.
    • Assist with orientation of new employees.
    • Provide exemplary customer service.
    • Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA.
    • Cooperate with other personnel to achieve departmental objectives and maintain good employee relations, inter-departmental objectives and infection control policies.
    • Cordially demonstrate timeliness and professionalism in appearance, communications, and actions during all interactions and with all individuals and entities.
    • Solve practical problems, dealing with a variety of issues, and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form.
    • Attend meetings as required.
    • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
    Requirements

    ABILITY TO USE EQUIPMENT, TOOLS, MATERIALS, MACHINES: Computer, telephone, facsimile machine, copier, scanner, printer, calculator and other standard office equipment.

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

    Education:
    • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
    Experience:
    • One year environmental services experience in hospital setting preferred.
    Personal Job-Related Skills / Abilities:
    • Must be committed to quality and patient safety at all times.
    • Excellent command / highly proficient in spoken and written English; Spanish bilingual preferred.
    • Basic computer skills, including but not limited to: Microsoft Office, Meditech Work Orders and email.
    • Must be effective at adjusting to change, prioritizing duties, handling stress and effectively communicating face-to-face.
    • Must be able to work independently, and flexibly, and as a part of a multidisciplinary team.
    • Must be able to manage several interruptions throughout the shift.
    • Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written.
    • Must have strong time management skills.
    • Must be able to work under pressure while interacting in a helpful, courteous manner with a high degree of patient contact.
    • Sufficient hearing, vision and dexterity to perform duties safely.
