    Description

    The Surgical Intermediate Care Unit is a fast-paced 12-bed unit providing intermediate care to a variety of adult patient populations. Patients admitted to the SIMU have undergone complex surgical procedures, have traumatic injuries from a variety of mechanisms, and/or require frequent interventions and monitoring. With typical 1:3 nurse:patient ratios, the SIMU nurses work with the interprofessional team to assess, plan, and implement care.

    This position qualifies for the UVA Medical Center Clinical Ladder. The salary range reflected in this job posting is for an RN Clinician 2.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide direct care to patients receiving high risk medications, including medications for conscious sedation for complex procedures both on the unit and in procedural areas.
    • Manage care and implement treatment plans at a refined skill level in collaboration with patients, their families, physicians, and other members of the health care team.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program required. Bachelor's of Science in Nursing Degree preferred.
    • Experience: 1 year of relevant experience.
    • Licensure: Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

    Physical Demands:

    • Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently walking, bending/stooping.
    • Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly;
    • Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs.

    The estimated annual salary for this position is $83,850 - $111,300.
