    Gundersen Health System is seeking a Invasive Cardiac Technologist This is your opportunity to provide care to patients while doing the work you love in the beautiful Coulee Region.


    What you will do:

    • Act as a patient advocate by assisting the physician and RN with procedures, assessment of patient status, and communication of information in a way that fosters individualized patient care.
    • Work 35 hours/week
    • 10-hour shifts,
    • Take call coverage every 4th-5th weekend and 1-2 nights per pay period

    What do you need:

    • Diploma or Associate level health science program completion in cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology or exercise physiology or similar field
    • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (CPR)

    Job Description:
    The Invasive Cardiology Technologist assists the physician with diagnostic and therapeutic interventions of patients with heart disease.

    The Invasive Cardiology Technician acts as a patient advocate by assisting the physician and RN with procedures, assessment of patient status, and communication of information in a way that fosters individualized patient care in a cost effective manner.


    Major Responsibilities:
    Demonstrates the ability to perform at least two of the following responsibilities:


    • Demonstrates ability to monitor and assess the hemodynamic status of patients during diagnostic, therapeutic and emergency procedures by observing and recording accurately EKGs, wave forms, and oximetry, and reporting changes to physician and/or RN as they occur. Also generates reports in a timely fashion.
    • Assist staff in procedures to promote safety and quality radiographic imaging by positioning patient, table, and C-arm during diagnostic, therapeutic and emergency procedures to obtain both optimal imaging as well as maintaining lowest possible radiation dose.
    • Assists MD during diagnostic, therapeutic and emergency procedures by "scrubbing in" to promote skilled procedural practice and maintain sterile field for optimal quality and safe patient outcomes.

    Demonstrates the ability to perform the following responsibilities:

    • Works with staff to promote an open and healthy communicative atmosphere for enhanced delivery of patient care and unit outcomes.
    • Works with staff by participating in QI activities in order to continuously improve patient care and positive out-comes.
    • Works with staff by participating in daily lab activities as per policy/procedure and written guidelines to enhance practice and work flow.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of safety issues in a manner to prevent unsafe conditions and hazards in the work place.
    • Demonstrates knowledge and works with staff to promote cardiology best practice by participating in mandatory organizational and unit specific educational programs and maintaining certification credentialing.
    • Demonstrates flexibility by changing work hours to meet unit needs and ability to take extra call when needed. (Ability to take calls nights and weekends with a 30 minute in house response time.)
    • Witness waste of controlled substances with authorized staff in the state of Wisconsin. Will not witness waste in Minnesota and Iowa, both states require licensed individuals or registered pharmacy technician staff only to witness the waste of controlled substances.
    • Performs other job-related responsibilities as requested.

    Education and Learning:

    REQUIRED


    Post High School education in a specialized field: Diploma or Associate level health science program completion in cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology or exercise physiology or similar field.


    DESIRED
    Vocational or technical training graduate of accredited cardiovascular technology program


    Work Experience:

    REQUIRED
    1 year of direct patient care experience in a healthcare related field


    DESIRED
    1 year of experience as a technologist in cardiac cath lab, electrophysiology lab, vascular, or interventional radiology environment.


    License and Certifications:

    REQUIRED
    License commensurate with education and experience


    Current Infant-Adult Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers (with hands on learning) from one of the following programs; American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

    Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 3 months of hire


    DESIRED
    American Registry of Radiologic Technology Registered Technologist-Radiography (ARRT) or Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or American Registry

    Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES)
