Job Title: PRN Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant - University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center

Job Description:

General Summary:

- Provides patient care under the supervision of a licensed physician at UMMS.

- Performs professional duties and technical procedures in the area of specialty, such as operative procedures, suturing, and injections.

- Assists in surgeries and makes initial diagnoses.

Principal Responsibilities and Tasks:

Regularly visits pre- and post-operative patients to monitor progress.
Rounds on inpatients and relays concerns to physicians.
Orders tests and treatments, and writes progress notes in patient charts.
Assists in surgeries and conducts preoperative planning.
Interviews patients, performs physical examinations, and administers medications.

Education Responsibilities:

- Participates in educational programs for medical personnel and precepts students.

- Promotes understanding of disease processes and helps improve clinical outcomes.

Clinical Leadership/Outcomes:

- Contributes to quality improvement initiatives and evidence-based practices.

- Participates in various meetings, maintains compliance documentation, and ensures patient safety.
