    Responsibilities


    The RN Resource Specialist is responsible for partnering with local and regional Nursing leadership to coordinate on-site evaluation of policies, procedures, and practices.

    Oversight may include but is not limited to topics related to surgical and procedural nursing practices, pre/post care and instrumentation and equipment.

    (For the Surgical Services practice, oversight may include, but is not limited to sterile processing and high-level disinfection processes of the operating/procedural room equipment and instrumentation.)

    The RN Resource Specialist develops and maintains effective relationships with a variety of individuals throughout the institution to fulfill responsibilities including providing support to practice and policy procedures and the associated documentation.

    This role will be responsible to evaluate quality assurance programs established by Mayo Clinic and regulatory agencies.

    The RN Resource Specialist collaborates in auditing current processes against industry standards, providing summarized reporting of results, and developing recommendations based on audit results.

    The RN Resource Specialist will assist as needed in training and providing analysis of work processes and implementing changes to improve outcomes and service.

    This role will be responsible for providing meaningful information to local and regional Nursing leadership for decision-making.

    In addition, this role will assist in developing strategies for introducing, evaluating, or modifying the electronic medical record applied to nursing practice and education.

    A subset of employees may be required to drive their personal vehicle as a part of the responsibility of their role.

    This role is eligible for TN sponsorship. Holders of F1 status eligible for post-completion OPT are welcome to apply. This role is NOT eligible to participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program. Successful sponsorship will require state licensure and completion of the VisaScreen or equivalent certification.
    Qualifications

    Graduate of a nursing program.


    All entry-level associate degree registered nurses with a RN start date of April 1, 2020 and after must provide documented evidence of program completion of a baccalaureate degree in nursing program within five years from the last day of the month of the RN start date.


    All entry-level associate degree registered nurses with a RN start date prior to April 1, 2020 must provide documented evidence of program completion of a baccalaureate degree in nursing program as stipulated by the degree requirement program in place at time of hire.


    Arizona campuses:
    A Baccalaureate degree in Nursing with four (4) years of Operating Room experience is required.
    Baccalaureate degree in Nursing preferred.

    Associate degree with five years' practice specific experience preferred or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from ACEN or CCNE accredited program with 2 years of practice specific experience preferred.

    At least 1 year of formal or informal leadership experience, including involvement in committees preferred. At least 1 year of experience in quality improvement initiatives, including report preparation and formulating recommendations preferred. Program management or project coordination experience. Strong decision-making and critical thinking skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge and experience with research processes.
    Valid Driver's License. Current RN license by applicable state requirements.

    • For Surgical Services, RN Resource Specialists focused on instrument reprocessing and sterilization: Sterilization Certification through IAHCSMM or CBSPD preferred and must acquire within 2 years of start date. Additional state licensure(s) and/or specialty certification/training as required by the work area.
