    Summary



    This position is an open continuous position. Applicants will be referred as there is a need.

    This position is located at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in multiple service lines throughout the medical center. The purpose of this position is to provide advisory. and technical assistance to patients and beneficiaries seeking medical treatment, information, or guidance from the Medical Center.



    Duties


    This is an Open Continuous Announcement (OCA). Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis and qualified candidates will be considered as vacancies become available. Although this announcement is open until May, qualified individuals will be considered immediately when a vacancy occurs. First review of applicants will occur in one week. You will be notified when your application has been referred to selecting officials.

    Duites:

    • Greets Veterans reporting to the Intake Unit. Listens to their request to determine the nature of the Veteran's medical care needs, questions, or concerns.
    • Screens all incoming calls to obtain sufficient information to obtain primary need. Interprets the information to make the appropriate referrals to other responsible hospital personnel when the matter is outside of employee's scope of assignment.
    • Schedules and coordinates appointments utilizing the VistA computer system in accordance with Veterans Health Administration (VHA) national scheduling guidelines.
    • Assists in following up on RECALL appointment reminders, calling Veterans to schedule appointments.
    • Queries patient as to current address and phone number, updating information as needed.
    • Fills and tracks medications.
    • Independently handles a wide range of difficult contacts and complex situations, including eligibility determinations, on all types of patients.
    • Determines whether an applicant is entitled to medical care benefits by means of a working knowledge of appropriate VA Regulations, Public Law; Stations Policies and guidelines.

    Work Schedule: First Shift: 8a-4:30p, may include weekends and holidays

    Second Shift: 4p-12:30am, may include weekends and holidays

    Third Shift: 12a-8:30a, may include weekends and holidays
