    Job Summary

    This recruitment will be used to fill one full-time Development Engineer position for the School of Civil and Construction Engineering at Oregon State University (
    OSU).


    The purpose of this position is to support research within the area of cement and concrete science, including thermodynamic and kinetic measurements, characterization and performance testing.

    This position will manage laboratories and equipment in the cement and concrete materials research group. and provide safety training for students on equipment and required procedures.

    What We Require

    One year of experience designing, fabricating, testing, modifying, and maintaining new, experimental electronic equipment, instruments, and systems in an instrument laboratory; OR a Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering Technology or equivalent field.

    Experience in a technical industry or national laboratory.
    Experience developing technical and safety procedures.
    Excellent scheduling and communication skills.
    Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide variety of audiences.
    Demonstrated ability to work effectively on an individual basis and as a member of a team.
    Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, evaluate, and make critical judgments.

    What We Would Like You to Have

    Bachelor's degree in science or engineering field or a Bachelor's degree in any field and an Associate's degree in engineering or a related field.

    First aid training and experience.

    Background in materials testing using x-ray fluorescence, x-ray diffraction, thermogravimentric analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, particle size analysis, acidification, isothermal calorimetry, thermomechanical analysis, electrical resistivity/conductivity, acoustic emission.

    Background in cement, mortar or concrete testing.
    Working Conditions / Work Schedule


    This position requires the ability to work/move effectively in a laboratory environment, including the ability to lift up to 20 pounds to physically place samples in equipment.
