    VP of Mechanical Engineering

    As the VP of Mechanical Engineering, you will be working directly with the
    CTO, CPO and CEO.

    You will be an executive leader in a critical customer-facing role and a key driver of ongoing transformation, leading our engineering team towards shipping our technology on time.

    Our core technology empowers farmers to grow more profitable food. Together with our partners, we are building environmentally friendly, sustainable, and highly productive farms. Our office is located in Hayward, CA, about 25-30 mins average commute from most places in the Bay Area. We offer competitive pay and a great team environment.

    VP, Mechanical Engineer

    About You:
    You are a technical hands-on engineer who leads from the front
    Strong experience with mechanical engineering and CAD tools
    You have the ability to iterate and prototype new designs rapidly
    Have deep prior experience as an individual contributor and technical leader
    You have excellent communication skills and fluency in English (both oral and written)
    You are proactive, enthusiastic, flexible, and adaptable; no task is too big or too small
    You are a natural leader with a proven track record of bringing deep tech products market
    You have excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach senior engineers and managers to champion change and deliver quick solutions to complex problems
    You have direct experience working with machine shops for hands-on rapid prototyping
    You have deep experience with SolidWorks, experience working with PDM, and PDM Server Management
    Knowledge of Arena PLM software
    You have experience with local manufacturing, working with vendors and managing contract manufacturers for timely delivery


    What you will do:
    Help lead and execute on Verdant's vision
    Drive engineering front the front designing and developing advanced robotic systems
    Manage teams and individuals towards shipping product on time and on schedule
    Drive product alignment with business objectives, user and customer experience
    Work with our CEO to build and manage a world-class engineering team by fostering a culture of excellence, mentoring and developing talent and recruiting strong, well-rounded engineers
    Ensure engineering and operational excellence, establishing metrics and processes for regular assessment and improvement
    Champion a data-driven and continuous improvement culture to improve the efficiency, scalability, stability, and security

    Desired Qualifications
    Masters or above in mechanical engineering, or a related robotics-hardware heavy field
    You've delivered products to market, ideally in robotics
    5-10 years of experience in Agricultural Mechanical Engineering
    Highly proficient in Solidworks and PDM
    Experience working with Arena
    Experience in finding and sourcing fabricated parts quickly from local shops
    Familiarity with machining (mill, lathe, etc)
    5+ years of production engineering experience as an IC or tech lead
    Have managed a team of engineers (and a manager of managers)
    Have been part of at least one startup
    Obsessed with robotics and sustainable agriculture
    Willing to travel to the field (up to 20%) to meet with customers
