    Primary Function/General Purpose of Position


    The RN Clinical Float Pool assesses, analyzes, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care following established patient care standards for the organization including those for patient assessment and transfer.

    The primary role of this job, depending on the hiring tier, is to be available and adaptable to float to different departments and sites throughout the markets within the organization to provide patient care. This could involve various scenarios such as scheduling staffing on the day, working in multiple locations during a single shift, accepting travel assignments, or following seasonal staffing patterns.

    Participates as a valuable member of the healthcare team, collaborating with and under the guidance of a clinical manager or designated individual as outlined by the relevant Standards and Scope of Practice for the Registered Nurse.


    Essential Job Functions
    RN Clinical Float Pool employees are recruited with the understanding that they may need to float based on the tiers mentioned below:


    • Tier 1:
    Floating within a single site based on competency


    • Tier 2:
    Floating within multiple sites within a single market based on competency


    • Tier 3:
    Floating within multiple sites across more than one market based on competency


    • Demonstrates awareness of and supports organizational departmental and operating unit goals through participation in continuous quality improvement and departmental activities.
    • Acts as a patient safety advocate by engaging in ongoing quality improvement efforts in the department
    • Integrates the professional practice model into care delivery
    • Plans and coordinates nursing care and clinical decisions using the best available evidence
    • Develops and implements a care plan for each patient, including interventions, assessment of response to interventions, and proper documentation based on the condition and age of the patient

    Licensing/Certification
    Current nursing license in the designated state of employment (required)

    Basic Life Support (BLS) - Various (required)

    Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS - AHA) - American Heart Association required based on specialty assignment


    Education
    Associate's of Nursing (required)

    Bachelor's of Nursing (BSN) (preferred)
    Work Experience
    1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse in acute care (required)

    Training
    EPIC Electronic Health Record (preferred)

    Language
    None

    Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide appropriate care to patients of varying ages on the assigned unit


    Understands the principles of growth and development throughout the lifespan and can evaluate data that reflects a patient's condition to determine their specific needs. Provides necessary care as outlined in departmental policies and procedures.

    Working Conditions
