    Position and Company:
    We pay additional shift and weekend differentials.

    Our CNAs help residents with daily living activities and assist nursing staff care and other related activities. Arbor Acres has a higher-than-average CNA to resident ratio and relationship building is encouraged. CNAs may be assigned to Assisted Living, Memory Care or Skilled Nursing.

    Job Relationships

    Reports to and is supervised by the Nursing Manager.

    CNA Duties and Responsibilities


    Assists the nursing staff in providing care to geriatric patients using knowledge of and techniques for dealing with problems associated with aging.

    Assists residents with personal grooming and dressing.
    Assists residents with use of toilet and/or bedpan.
    Transports residents to and from meals, activities and other areas as needed.
    Responds promptly to resident call bells or requests from residents and any emergencies within one (1) minute.

    Provides non-skilled treatments such as measurement of vital signs, turning and positioning, transfers, recording of bowel and bladder function, care for the incontinent, including skin care, range of motion exercises, assistance with walking, testing of urine, recording of in-take and out-put, application and release of protective restraints, weighing and measuring, administration of non-medicated enemas and vaginal irrigations, collections of voided urine specimens and stool specimens, and post-mortem care of the body.

    Assists residents with the dining experience.
    Communicates reports of residents' conditions, especially any unusual incidents or changes.
    Assesses clothing for cleaning needs, labeling and appropriate storage.
    Assists residents with social activities.
    Records supply usage.
    Assists with maintaining residents' environment.
    Performs any other duties and/or tasks that may be assigned on an as-needed basis by an authorized supervisor.

    CNA Typical Physical Demands

    Employee must have the ability and knowledge to lift and move residents safely.
    Must be able to lift 30 lbs.

    of weight; to reach and extend hands and arms in any direction; to seize, hold, grip, turn or otherwise work with hands.

    Be able to bend, stoop, kneel, bend at the waist.
    Be able to clearly hear sounds as is needed in monitoring blood pressures.
    Be able to see clearly at 20 inches or less.
    Have an acute sense of smell.
    Must be able to push residents that weigh 200 lbs. in a wheelchair.
    Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
    Must be able to successfully complete the WorkSTEPS Functional Testing program. This program assists in determining whether applicants/employees are able to safely perform essential job functions.

    CNA Key Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    Be able to express verbal ideas and impart information to residents and residents' families.
    Extensive ability to respond to emergencies rapidly.
    Must be able to operate Hoyer Lift and Arjo whirlpool tubs.
    Work habits should include regular attendance, punctuality, teamwork, initiative, willingness to learn, dependability and promptness.
    Must be able to perform mental functions and withstand moderate amounts of stress.
    Must be able to work flexible hours to meet the demands of a 24 hour daily operation.
    Strong verbal communication skills. The ability to read, to write, and to speak fluently and correctly in the English language.

    Bilingual is a plus, but is not required

    Minimum Education

    High School Diploma or GED required.

    Minimum Experience

    Prefer 6 months

    License and/or Certification Required


    Certified as a Nurse Aide I (Certified Nursing Assistant) and registered with the North Carolina Department of Facility Services Nurse Aide Registry.
