- The working schedule for these roles is Monday to Friday from 11:15 AM to 7:45 PM, with weekends off.
- Advocating, supporting, educating, and training individuals served by the Department of Mental Health.
- Conducting recovery and rehabilitation groups, peer support sessions, educational workshops and vocational training sessions.
- Collaborating with individuals to set and achieve goals by considering their needs, strengths, interests, and barriers.
- Supporting the development of self-advocacy skills and other strategies that aid the recovery process.
- Providing services that promote continuity of care, community integration, and a conducive recovery environment.
- Promoting teamwork, flexibility, conflict resolution, and maintaining a safe environment for all.
- Complying with state and federal laws, including HIPAA regulations, to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality.
- Acting professionally and cooperatively with staff across disciplines.
- Understanding of rehabilitation principles for individuals with psychiatric diagnoses.
- Experience working with populations facing psychiatric challenges.
- Capability to design and assess program curricula.

Description
The Department of Mental Health (DMH) is looking for a passionate human services candidate to provide Peer Specialist services at the Worcester Recovery Center and Hospital (WRCH) Inpatient Units, supporting patients with psychiatric diagnoses through peer accompaniment in achieving life goals.
The selected candidate will leverage personal recovery experiences professionally to instill hope for a life beyond the scope of mental health services and guide individuals through their recovery journey.
The Peer Specialist role emphasizes a person-centered approach in service provision, focusing on the development and execution of individualized treatment plans.
In this position, the chosen candidate will uphold and advocate for recovery and resiliency following established industry principles, such as those outlined in Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) ten fundamental components of recovery and the Massachusetts Certified Peer Specialist Code of Ethics.

The minimum qualification includes certification as a Peer Specialist from a recognized program.
