Quality Engineer - Thorntown, United States - Talnt
Description
Responsibilities:
Develop and manage quality control processes to achieve both immediate and long-range objectives.
Perform calibration of measuring tools like micrometers, calipers, thread gauges, and set plugs, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
Utilize quality tools (cause analysis, evaluation, process analysis, etc.) to uphold quality control and assure quality across operations.
Implement statistical methods and quality tools to enhance quality assurance and control processes.
Lead and participate in the calibration of gauges according to the scheduled timetable, focusing on precision and accuracy.
Recommend and integrate new technologies and methodologies to drive quality improvement and continuous enhancement.
Support the development and implementation of preventive and corrective action programs based on customer feedback and quality standards.
Execute and oversee audits of corrective actions to guarantee long-term success.
Evaluate quality-related costs and spearhead initiatives for continuous improvement.
Offer guidance and training within the department to meet organizational objectives.
Generate and deliver reports summarizing quality metrics and outcomes to senior management.
Handle metrology and calibration duties for a variety of standard measuring instruments.
Conduct PPAPs (Production Part Approval Process) at various levels and ensure rigorous inspection, calibration, and audit activities.
Manage ISO certification processes, including annual recertification and surveillance audits.
Qualifications:
Bachelors or Associate degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a quality-focused role, preferably within a manufacturing setting.
Proficient in the application of quality control and assurance methodologies, including statistical process control, sampling, and metrology.
Familiarity with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and General Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication abilities.
Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred
Qualifications:
2 to 5 years of experience in a quality assurance role, with a preference for candidates possessing experience in the metalworking and automotive industries.
Proven track record of developing and implementing quality improvement initiatives.
Deep understanding and hands-on experience with ISO standards and audits.
Commitment to promoting and adhering to safety and security procedures.
