    Title: IT Infrastructure UNIX Engineer

    Location: Sunnyvale, CA - Hybrid (FULL TIME)

    Networks' IT Infrastructure team is chartered to provide compute, storage, and cloud services for the enterprise, including life-cycle environments, supply chain operations, business and customer facing applications.

    The IT UNIX engineer role delivers in depth technical expertise across the full life cycle, both within IT and across the organization. The role has the project level expertise to plan, review, evaluate, guide, and deliver all aspects UNIX/Linux life-cycle management across the enterprise. The role has the technical – hands-on – expertise to design, develop, build, and test UNIX/Linux operating system management capabilities including owning incidents to satisfactory resolution. The role reports to the IT Architecture Sr Manager within the IT Infrastructure team.

    The role will be operating within a brownfield environment, in parallel to working on projects that will instantiate greenfield solutions and be responsible for transitional activities. The UNIX/Linux operating systems include, but are not limited to, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, Ubuntu and FreeBSD. It is a heterogeneous environment requiring broad knowledge of external identity providers, hybrid on-premises and cloud hosting (bare-metal, virtualization, Kubernetes, containers) as well as integrations with multiple third-party SaaS, automation, and management tools.

    Responsibilities:

    Design, develop, maintain, and support UNIX/Linux operating systems for bare-metal, ESX virtualization and AMIs.

    Network build and qualify RHEL9 on end-user desktop/workstation hardware including runtimes, modules, and a full application stack.

    Create and manage KickStart scripts for zero-touch unattended 'bare metal' network builds.

    Develop infrastructure as code using Unix shell, Python and Perl scripting in conjunction with GitHub.

    Manage automations using AWX, Red Hat Ansible Tower, Foreman and/or Jenkins.

    Produce high and low-level design, workflow, connectivity, and procedural documentation.

    Perform in-depth troubleshooting and reverse engineering to support incident/problem tickets.

    Integrate with network, storage, hypervisors, and applications.

    Qualifications:

    Minimum bachelor's in a computer science/engineering degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    6+ years' experience as a UNIX/Linux system administrator across the full life-cycle.

    Working with an outsourcing partner that operate and maintain the infrastructure.

    In-depth UNIX development with shell, python and perl scripting.

    Experience with enterprise UNIX mail server migrations (sendmail, postfix, Exim).

    Experience of hybrid on-premises and cloud hosting environments.

    Hands-on implementing multiple infrastructure operational and management solutions.

    All rounded experience of distributed networks, segmentation/firewalls, IP services (DNS,NTP,DHCP,TFTP,BOOTP,HTTP), IdM (Authentication/Authorization), LDAP, Kerberos, SAML and Active Directory.

    Knowledge of enterprise cybersecurity standards, frameworks and best practices including operating system hardening control sets.

    Ability to independently solve complex problems with the operating system.

    Taking ownership, being self-sufficient, ability to prioritize workloads and execute daily tasks.

    Strong communication skills – Written and oral.

    Other Skills/Desirable:

    Experience with high performance, workload, and compute infrastructure.

    Experience of infrastructure deployments for manufacturing and supply chain operations.

    In depth knowledge of Kubernetes platform and Container/Docker implementations.

    Experience in end-to-end automated server builds and pipelines.

    Knowledge of enterprise patch management services.

    Understanding of Infoblox would be desirable.
